Construction phase 3: Technical installation

The technology inside the windmill is completely preserved and illustrates the development of the mill as a production facility from 1851 to the 1960s. The grinding and conveying technology has been overhauled in recent years and put back into operation with wind power.

In the summer of 2019, we started this repair work ourselves. This work is being carried out gradually by knowledgeable volunteers with the help of specialist companies.

In May 2019, the electric motor, which serves as an additional drive for the grist mill, was removed and completely overhauled by a local master company. The three elevators and one of the two mixer silos are now operational again.

Damage to the runner stone meant that it had to be replaced at the end of 2020. The new stone comes from the workshop of millstone maker Hans Titulaer from the Netherlands. It was sponsored by the Volksbank Stiftung Sulingen. The old stone remains as an exhibit near the grinding mill.

Repairs will be carried out to floors, stairs, doors and windows, as well as minor masonry repairs and plastering work inside to ensure the safety and attractiveness of the mill for visitors.
