The non-profit association for the promotion and preservation of the windmill in Labbus ev, founded in 2007, has, according to its statutes, the following purpose:

"...the preservation, restoration, care and promotion of the listed windmill in Labbus near Sulingen. The windmill should be made accessible to the public as a cultural asset.

The purpose of the statutes is achieved in particular through the voluntary cooperation of the association's members in professional measures that serve to preserve and maintain the mill and mill technology in agreement with the monument protection authorities, through the procurement of funds through contributions, donations, grants, sponsors as well as events and campaigns that generate a financial contribution for the association's purpose. This also includes in particular the maintenance and presentation of the customs associated with the mill industry, e.g. within the framework of mill and monument days, mill tours to provide insights into the culturally and historically significant mill operation."
